Wood mulch not only beautifies your home and landscape, but it also improves the health of your gardens by helping to control weeds, retaining moisture in the soil, and protecting delicate roots from heat and cold. But not all mulch is created equal.
At Kirby Mulch Company, we take our mulch seriously! With more than a dozen mulching products–from classic black, red, and brown to our own NEK Natural blend --Kirby Mulch is committed to providing you with the highest quality, locally-sourced mulch in Vermont. Whether you want a five-gallon bucket for a blueberry bush or a 100-yard wholesale delivery, Kirby Mulch brings the same high-level customer service and attention to every order.
Our story begins in the forests of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, where owner and master logger, Heath Bunnell, has spent his life working the land. The owner of HB Logging, Heath saw an opportunity to create mulch from extra wood leftover from timber harvest projects. Grinding the stumps, branches, and debris that otherwise would be left on the forest floor, Kirby Mulch processes its mulch locally, minimizing transportation cost and emissions, and producing an all-natural mulch free of manufactured wood, pallets, chemicals, nails, and other contaminants.
Connection to the forested landscape is part of our history and heritage in Vermont, and that’s particularly true in the Kingdom where logging goes back generations. Committed to sustainable and regenerative forest practices that promote healthy animal habitat, soil quality, carbon sequestration, and forest-based recreation, Kirby Mulch sources its raw materials from the abundant northern forest.
When you buy Kirby Mulch, you’re not only purchasing beautiful, high-quality mulch, you’re also supporting sustainable forestry, helping to keep jobs in rural Vermont, and connecting your home to the Northeast Kingdom, where neighbors support each other. The forests are not just a livelihood, but a way of life.
Benefits of using mulch go far beyond just the appearance. Mulch offers several benefits, some of which include:
